The event, hosted by the Princess of Wales, took place after what has been described as a challenging year for the Royal Family.

The service reflected themes of unity and support, which were particularly poignant given recent difficulties including health challenges within the family.

In a pre-recorded introduction to the service, Kate shared her reflections on the Christmas season.

“Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, it is a time for presents, tinsel and mince pies, but it’s also a time to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all,” the princess said.

The Princess of Wales emphasised that love and empathy should extend beyond the festive period, highlighting the importance of kindness and forgiveness.
