Prince Harry’s friend speaks out as he outlines how Meghan Markle has changed Duke

One of Prince Harry’s friends has admitted the Duke of Sussex hasn’t been as fun now since he married Meghan.

Former rugby player James Haskell, who was capped for England 77 times, let slip the information while on stage for a live performance of his podcast.

The 38-year-old was speaking about first meeting Harry at the wedding of Mike Tindall to Zara Phillips in 2011.

Haskell had been an England teamate of Tindall’s, with the pair still good friends today.

Meghan Markle has made Prince Harry less fun, according to James HaskellPA

“Who should be there, wandering around having a good time, but Prince Harry,” Haskell recalled as he spoke about the wedding.

“He hadn’t met her [Meghan] yet, so he was still quite fun.”

His jibe at the expense of the Duchess of Sussex is claimed by the Daily Mail to have been met with cheers and applause by those watching the rugby player on stage at the Bath Forum in Somerset.

It is the first time Haskell has appeared to publicly criticise the impact that Meghan has had on her husband.

In the past the ex-England captain has always defended the couple from criticism.

Speaking in February he described Harry and Meghan as “brilliant parents” to Archie and Lilibet, and defended the couple’s right to speak out and give their view on how events in the Royal Family unfolded.

“Everybody’s entitled to an opportunity to say what they want, and when someone feels like they and their partner have been oppressed, lied about, contradicted and put into a corner.

“I think it’s very important,” he said at the time.

“I ended up inadvertently being a big defender of his recently.

“I speak to him every night every now and again.

“We’re just sort of comparing notes about kids always being ill.”
