Run Communications has secured the role of communications partner for the Birmingham Invictus Games 2027, the international sporting competition established by Prince Harry for wounded, injured, and sick military personnel and veterans.

The PR agency will spearhead media relations and social media campaigns for the event, which the Duke of Sussex founded in 2014.

Two additional partners have joined the promotional effort.

Sports agency Goodform will handle marketing and digital insights, whilst Champions has been brought on board to manage commercial partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.

Together, the three agencies aim to boost awareness and public engagement with the Games, which celebrates the resilience of servicemen and women who have suffered physical or psychological harm during their military careers.

Birmingham will host the competition in July 2027, with the NEC and Sandwell Aquatics Centre serving as the primary venues.

More than 550 athletes representing over 25 nations will compete across 12 adaptive sports disciplines.

Jess Arnold, managing director of Run Communications, told PR Week: “It’s a huge privilege to be appointed as communications partner for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.

The Invictus Games stand for resilience, purpose and progress, and our role is to help tell those stories with credibility, care and impact.”

Ritchie Rebbeck, director of communications at Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, said: “As we build towards 2027, it was vital to appoint partners who understand both the responsibility and the privilege of telling the Invictus story.”

The Duke of Sussex is expected to travel to Britain for the one-year countdown celebration in July.

Although no formal confirmation has been issued, sources indicate his attendance is probable given his unbroken record of appearing at every countdown ceremony since the Games launched in 2014.

The 41-year-old has been a consistent presence at these annual milestone events, with the Duchess of Sussex having accompanied him on previous occasions.

Birmingham emerged victorious from a competitive international selection process, beating six rival cities to secure hosting rights.

The UK-backed bid succeeded largely due to the city’s demonstrated commitment to supporting the welfare and rehabilitation of serving military personnel and veterans.
