Prince Harry has opened up about his Invictus Games dream during a solo engagement in Canada.

The Duke of Sussex has not been joined by his wife in Vancouver despite the couple previously making joint public appearances at Invictus Games events.

Harry launched the Invictus Games school programme at Vancouver’s Seaforth Armoury on Monday with an engaging game of sitting volleyball alongside local schoolchildren.

The duke, 40, visited the historic Canadian military facility where he participated in sports activities with the students.

Dressed in a grey shirt, the prince was photographed playing sitting volleyball with children as they learned about the adaptive sports tournament for wounded service personnel.

The visit marks his second appearance in Vancouver, where the Invictus Games will be held in February 2025.

During his visit, Prince Harry spoke passionately about expanding the Invictus spirit beyond its traditional community.

The royal opened up regarding his dream for the competition to go global, saying: “Seeing them learn about the Invictus Games has had a profound impact on me, because this is where Invictus starts to go even wider outside of the Invictus community, into schools in Canada and hopefully around the world.”

Meghan, 43, was pictured in Los Angeles last Thursday at the celebrity restaurant Gjelina.

She attended the launch of her friend Kadi Lee’s new Highbrow Hippie hair wellness range, in which the Duchess is an investor.

The Duchess has accompanied Prince Harry to Invictus Games events since 2017 onwards and joined her husband in Vancouver in February 2024 for a previous promotional event.

The couple stepped out at Invictus events in February across several days in Canada in what was seen as a preview of the first-ever winter edition of the sporting competition.

As well as attending the Canada preview event, Meghan has joined Harry at the Invictus Games in The Netherlands and Germany.

She is expected to accompany Harry in February at the Vancouver games, with the couple reportedly weighing up bringing their son Prince Archie with them.

In July, Prince Harry announced that the Invictus Games will return to the UK in 2027 as Birmingham was chosen over DC Washington on the final two destination shortlist for the host city.
