King Charles not meeting his youngest son during his trip to the UK “plays into Prince Harry’s victimhood narrative”, according to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield.
Harry has travelled across the pond to mark the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games but his visit will not be capped by a sit-down with his father.
The Duke of Sussex said in a statement that the King’s “full programme” meant a reunion was not possible, but Schofield told GB News that the move has aided Harry in some ways.
“I think that, especially for the American audience that Harry is courting so aggressively, this plays very well into his victimhood narrative”, she said.

“‘Daddy didn’t love me. I’m the only spare. I wasn’t hugged as a child. He didn’t take me on bike rides’, that falls right in this category.
“The fact it’s Harry’s team telling us this and the Palace is refusing to comment gives us some insight as to why the King is not pursuing a meeting with his son.

“Nothing is sacred. They can’t trust him. The last time Harry jumped on a plane to visit his father, I turned on Good Morning America a few days later and Prince Harry was discussing that meeting on an international morning show.
“Perhaps they are trying to be protective of their space right now. The crown is in crisis if you consider their health issues and maybe the King is just looking for some peace.”
Schofield made reference to the pair’s last meeting which came in February, shortly after the King announced his cancer diagnosis.
Harry rushed from America to see his father for a brief meeting that is said to have lasted around 40 minutes.

A spokesperson for the duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.
“The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
Schofield spoke of her surprise at Harry and Charles not meeting this time around, saying she had been briefed otherwise.
“Both sides were telling me there was going to be a meeting”, she said.

“Did something happen over the last few days? Was there an argument about Camilla being in the room?
“What could have taken place that sent this out? We were all being told to expect a meeting between Harry and his father.”
The duke’s trip to the UK includes him attending a ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral which will formally mark a decade of work by the Invictus Games Foundation.
Harry is also unlikely to be meeting with his brother the Prince of Wales given the strained nature of their relationship.
Harry attended a one-day summit in the capital that reflected on the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, saying there is still “so much more to do”.
He told delegates at the event, held at the Honourable Artillery Company’s headquarters on the edge of the City of London: “Sometimes you… look back and go ‘Look at what we’ve done’.
“But also given the state of the world, there is so much more to do and I think a lot of uncertainty – but what we’ve created is a global community.”
