Prince Harry could be set for crunch talks as King Charles wants his sons to reconcile, according to a former royal butler.

The King is expected to play “peacekeeper” between his two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William, when the Duke of Sussex returns to the UK in May.

King Charles’s former butler, Grant Harrold, spoke about Charles’s desire to heal the family rift as “family means everything” to the monarch.

Harrold said: “It is very likely that Harry and William will see each other next month and anything is possible.

“The King will want the brothers to patch things up so it’s more than likely that he could play peacemaker.”

Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK next month to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

It was reported that Meghan does not want to return to the UK due to security fears in Britain after Prince Harry lost a court case over his police protection in Britain.

Harrold continued: “He may get everyone together for a dinner or reception but it does depend on all their diaries.

“Family means everything to the King, like his mother and one of his top priorities will be to ensure that this family rift is healed.”

Prince Harry returned to the UK in February to meet with the King following Charles’s cancer diagnosis but did not see the Prince or Princess of Wales during his visit.

There have been tensions between Prince Harry and William since the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare.

The last time the brothers saw each other was at the King’s Coronation in May 2023, but it is not clear if they spoke.

Harrold also spoke about the King putting “duty above everything” as he continues his engagements in private while receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

The former butler told Slingo: “The King will be able to get back to engagements, we have already seen him getting back already.

“Behind closed doors he has been having audiences and meetings, I don’t think receptions but one-on-one things which is important.

“In terms of his planned trip to Australia later in the year, if he can I have no doubt that he will be on that trip. Like the late Queen, he puts duty above everything but he will still be careful.”
