Prince Harry blasted as Duke shuns ‘stepping up to the plate’ in Royal Family’s hour of need

Lizzie Cundy has blasted the Duke of Sussex for not “stepping up to the plate” after King Charles and Princess Kate were admitted to the hospital.

It was revealed last week that Kate was admitted to hospital for planned abdominal surgery. King Charles, who turned 75 two months ago, is also having a prostate operation.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their positions as senior royals in January 2020 and moved across the pond to the US.

Speaking to Nana Akua on GB News, socialite Lizzie Cundy said: “The thing is with this, that’s why Prince Harry was called ‘the spare’, so they could call on him at times like this when they would need him to step up to the plate.

“But sadly, he’s ruined it all. He’d rather be schmoozing and coughing champagne with the likes of John Travolta. It’s quite sad.

“The fact is, King Charles had no choice, he had to slim down the Royal Family because there was no Harry and Meghan anymore as working Royals and there was the Prince Andrew scandal.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

“We couldn’t have Prince Andrew as a working royal. And sadly with that, it’s a knock-on effect with Beatrice and Eugene, the daughters.

“I think Sarah Ferguson is still very popular and I hope you know when she’s well she can get back out there because she’s got an amazing amount of support and people love Fergie.”

Host Akua added: “Remember what happened with the whole interview on Oprah when Prince Philip was dying?

“They didn’t bother with that one. They didn’t care. As for the Queen, she died thinking there was an alleged racist, which there wasn’t, in the Royal Family.”

Akua also said that the absence of possibly four senior royals makes the monarchy appear “vulnerable”, as the King aims for a slimmed-down firm.

Nana noted that there’s now “not many” working royals left in the family, which has now been compounded by Kate and Charles’ health concerns.

Nana said she is “not surprised” that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have remained silent

Cundy said: “From what I hear, it was a very big operation, and she’s really got to take her time to get well with this. So she’s going to be out of action for a long time, maybe longer than we think. So it’s very worrying.

“And sadly the news about King Charles, I think it was unbelievable he was so open about this illness. Never before has a royal been so open. And you know, one in eight men get this prostate problem.”

Nana said she is “not surprised” that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have remained silent on the family health issues. she told GB News: “Meghan has not yet gone to visit her father as far as we know, who is very ill.

“He’s not a young man at all, and so I’m not surprised.”
