Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “struggling to compete” with Prince William and Kate in the US, a royal commentator has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex experienced some backlash in 2023 after Harry released his autobiography Spare, which went into detail about his various feuds with the Royal Family.
In December 2022, the couple released a six-episode Netflix docuseries discussing their time as working royals.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier discussed how the Sussexes’ popularity in the US is declining in comparison to the Waleses’.

He said: “I think the penny has finally dropped with them [the Sussexes] that they can never compete with an ancient institution admired around the world, particularly the goodwill still lingering from the late Queen’s reign.
“William and Kate have never been more popular and the Sussexes can’t hold a candle to them.
“Even in America people are fed up with their constant moaning and want them to do something positive.
“Just turning up at the occasional charity event or being seen at concerts and baseball games isn’t enough.”

When asked if they gathered specifically to see the Prince of Wales, a New Yorker told GB News: “Yes, because he’s an incredible person, a great leader and an awesome role model for a lot of younger people.
“I have a son that thinks he’s quite fascinating. He loves the ocean and he thinks a lot of the Earthshot stuff is just awesome.”
Another explained to GB News why the prince is so popular, saying: “I think his optimism. I think that Americans like to have that sense of we could be better, we could be doing more and he embodies that.
“He just keeps his head down and gets the job done. So there’s a deep appreciation for that as well.”
