Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to “let the dust settle” amid concerns for Archie and Lilibet, a royal commentator has claimed.
Following Donald Trump’s US election victory, many commentators have discussed what this could mean for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s future in the country.
In 2020, the couple did not specifically endorse Joe Biden, however, they urged US voters to “reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity,” which many viewed as a swipe at Trump.
In 2024, Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, stayed completely silent throughout the election cycle.

The Duke of Sussex has been locked in a visa dispute with the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank, which wants to enquire whether Harry lied on his US immigration papers about his previous drug use.
The duke admitted to taking drugs in his memoir Spare, released in January 2023.
Trump previously told Nigel Farage on GB News that he would ensure “appropriate action” is taken if Harry is found to have lied.
At a political conference earlier this year, Trump said that Biden’s government had been “too gracious” to Harry and Meghan since they moved to the US in 2020.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond believes that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are likely to stay in the US, despite Trump’s election victory.
She argued that Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, are settled in Montecito and their parents would not want to disrupt their lives.
Bond said: “My guess, though, is that they will let the dust settle and see how things pan out – they seem very happy in their Californian lifestyle and I’m sure they don’t want to unsettle their children unnecessarily.”
Meghan and Harry do have the option of relocating to Portugal, where they have recently bought a holiday home close to one that Prince Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, owns with her husband Jack Brooksbank.
Bond continued to tell OK!: “They do now have a bolt hole in Portugal.
“It’s probably much more than a bolt hole – it’s undoubtedly a very beautiful property and was maybe sourced by Eugenie’s husband, Jack.
“So, if things get tricky or uncomfortable in the States, Europe may see a little more of Harry and Meghan and their children.”
