Prince Harry has been accused of “dragging his family through the mud” in a scathing attack on his exploits in America.

Political commentator Lauren Chen said Harry is struggling to foster a positive image as a result of media projects where he and Meghan Markle have delivered scathing assessments of certain royal figures.

While the Royal Family have been less than impressed, Chen believes the American public are also growing weary of their behaviour.

“Speaking poorly of your in-laws, it doesn’t matter if you’re British or American, most decent people are not going to look at that behaviour in a favourable light”, she said.

“I think that’s really only been compounded with things like the Oprah interview that she and Harry gave, or even Harry’s book Spare.

“He had no issue with frankly dragging his family through the mud. A lot of Americans are looking at them wondering, ‘perhaps the British media who have been critical of Harry and Meghan were onto something’.”

Lauren Chen says there is ‘no appetite’ for what Meghan and Harry are ‘trying to sell’ in the USGB News

The couple have released items such as Netflix documentaries, Spotify podcasts and memoirs since they opted to cross the pond in 2020, departing Royal Family duties as a result.

According to Chen, the couple have been issued a “rude awakening”.

“Their Spotify deal has finished, so it’s not really a question or debate whether it was successful or not”, she said.

“Even with Netflix, these are deals they’ve had for years and what have they done with them?

“The docuseries was universally panned from what I saw. There is just no appetite for what Harry and Meghan are trying to sell anymore.

“It’s going to be a rude awakening that, you can’t just be royals in America and not produce anything and expect to be loved and financed the way you might be in the UK if you are actually a respected and participating member of the Royal Family.”

Since moving to the US, the couple’s Archewell Productions company has overseen the development of several high profile media projects.

The first came through their lucrative Spotify partnership which has since ceased.

Perhaps the couple’s most widely anticipated project came via their Netflix docuseries, a six parter that contained a series of royal bombshells.

The show was met with negative reviews and given a 19 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

It is also seen as a key reason behind the burning of bridges between the pair and the Royal Family.
