A former Head of Royal Protection has called Prince Andrew’s alleged connection to a suspected Chinese spy “a scandal waiting to be uncovered” and demanded a full investigation into the royal’s activities.
Dai Davies, who led Scotland Yard’s Royal Protection unit, has hit out at the Duke of York after it emerged that a Chinese businessman with close ties to Prince Andrew has been banned from the UK on national security grounds.
The businessman, known only as H6, lost his appeal against the ban at the UK’s Special Immigration Appeals Commission on Thursday.
The Special Immigration Appeals Commission ruled that the Government’s actions were “justified and proportionate”, noting that H6’s close relationship with Andrew left the prince “vulnerable”.

Court documents revealed a close relationship between H6 and the Duke of York, with letters showing the businessman was considered a trusted confidant.
Tom Tugendhat also called the affair “extremely embarrassing” for the prince.
Speaking to GB News, Davies called for a thorough examination of Prince Andrew’s activities and associates.
“If it was anyone else and they were representing the United Kingdom, there would be an inquiry,” Davies said.

He questioned why attempts to investigate the prince’s activities through the Foreign Office were consistently blocked.
“Questions need to be asked of the security services. What did they know? How do they and why do they allow this to happen?” Davies demanded.

He added: “This is arguably the straw that may well break the camel’s back.
“For over 20 plus years now, this man has cavorted around the world at our expense largely, and there needs to be a proper examination as to all his acquaintances, all the dodgy people that he’s dealt with.”
Davies delivered a scathing assessment of Prince Andrew’s judgment, telling GB News: “How much naivety can you put up with with a 60-plus-year-old man who continually continually meets with very, very bad people?”

The former protection chief said the Duke had “done more harm to the Royal Family than Oliver Cromwell.”
“Enough is enough,” Davies declared. “He’s cavorting with the Chinese. We know perfectly well what they’re up to in this country.
“I find it beyond belief that nobody knew that he was actively involved two or three years ago and trying to get money out of China.”
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the affair, noting that the prince is no longer a working royal.
