Jeremy Clarkson has hit back at a common piece of medical advice after sharing a concerning health update.

The 63-year-old admitted his “body doesn’t work like it used to” and has struggled to keep up with his son.

“When I hear that a man of my age should do 10,000 steps a day, I think: ‘Right, how on earth would I find the time to do that?’

“When I [walk with my son], he pootles along at what people call walking pace and to keep up I have to unleash my inner [Roger] Bannister.”

He admitted that walking with his son Finlo, 26, left him “coughing up my spleen and trying to get my breath back”.

Clarkson then quipped that his chances of developing type two diabetes could be considerably slashed should he increase his walking speed by just 0.1mph.
