On Tuesday, an RNLI lifeboat from Mumbles, Swansea, was sent to support the search, which included coastguard crews from Porthcawl, Port Talbot and Llantwit Major, in addition to both a police and a coastguard helicopter.
The RNLI said its Barry Dock lifeboat joined the search “in worsening conditions”.
It added: “This made it extremely challenging for the volunteer crews who were out searching until the early hours”.
