The General Election will be taking place tomorrow, with polls opening at 7am and shutting at 10pm.
Rishi Sunak called the election on May 22, with the dissolution of Parliament taking place eight days later on May 30.
And finally, over six weeks after Sunak’s announcement, the UK will be going to the polls tomorrow.
Labour are strong favourites to win a majority of seats, with the Tories expected to lose a large number of seats.
The Lib Dems are also expected to make huge gains following their dismal showing in 2019, while the SNP are expected to lose a number of their seats in Scotland.
Following Nigel Farage’s announcement that he would stand as an MP, Reform UK also rose up the polls, with some even having them coming second in the popular vote behind Labour.
The upcoming election is expected to see a large shift in the distribution of seats in the House of Commons, with a number of cabinet ministers projected to lose their seats.
It’s also customary that a Prime Minister who loses an election resigns, so if Labour win, Rishi Sunak might resign as leader of the Conservatives.
While Northern Ireland minister Steve Baker has been open about fancying his chances to run as leader, other senior Tories are keeping their cards close to their chests.
Over the weekend it emerged a website called kemi4leader.co.uk was registered in April and currently redirects to the Conservative Party homepage.
A website, Suella4leader.co.uk, which redirects to Suella Braverman’s personal website, has been registered.
Both Kemi Badenoch and Suella Braverman have denied being associated with these websites.
