Police have launched an urgent manhunt for a convicted rapist who has twice breached his Sex Offender Notification Requirements and is wanted in connection with making threats to kill.
David Doherty, 58, is “actively evading officers” according to South Yorkshire Police, who have warned the public not to approach him.
Members of the public are urged to call 999 immediately if they spot the offender.
Doherty was convicted of rape in 2014, following earlier convictions for attempted rape and indecent assault in 2000.

As a result of these convictions, he was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Under the terms of the register, Doherty is required to regularly provide his address to police.
The force confirmed he has recently failed to comply with this requirement.
The suspect is described as a white man of slim build, around 6ft 4ins tall, with greying light brown short hair.
Police believe Doherty is currently in the Scawthorpe or Balby areas of Doncaster.
He also has known links to Grimsby, investigators said.
Officers have indicated that Doherty is aware he is wanted and is deliberately avoiding detection.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Doherty, 58, from Doncaster, is wanted for two breaches of Sex Offender Notification Requirements, and in connection to a report of making threats to kill.
“We want to hear from anyone who has seen or spoken to Doherty recently, or knows where he might be staying. He knows he is wanted and we believe he is actively evading officers.”
The force emphasised that members of the public should not attempt to approach Doherty.
