Patrice Evra has bizarrely laid blame for Manchester United’s post-Sir Alex Ferguson downfall at his and the legendary manager’s feet after slamming the club for being trapped in ‘chaos’.
The Frenchman starred across eight years at Old Trafford between 2008 and 2016 during which time he won five Premier League titles, the Champions League and several other major top honours.
His exit was confirmed just a season after United’s legendary manager decided to call time on his career and was later deemed surplus to requirements as David Moyes was ultimately sacked during his first year in charge.
Evra has remained a massive fan – and critic – of United since departing Old Trafford and like many supporters of the iconic club has watched on in agony as several managers have come and gone.
Now, Erik ten Hag is in the firing line again after overseeing the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign with United 12th after eight games and Evra isn’t convinced the Dutchman is ‘good enough’ to win the top-flight title.

Evra doesn’t believe Erik ten Hag is ‘good enough’ to take Man United to the Premier League title
Passing verdict on United’s decade-long fall from grace, Evra believes former players need to take some blame and admitted the club’s current crop of stars lack leadership.
‘I blame myself, I blame Sir Alex Ferguson. It’s always tough to talk about United right now because back in the day we used to play for the fans, for the badge, for the history,’ Evra told the BBC.
‘When we left, we left too early and it’s difficult for the players because they don’t have any example.
‘I’m not inside, I don’t know what the problem is. The manager Ten Hag is trying to do his best – it’s not good enough.
‘But it’s not just about this season, it’s since we won the last league in 2013, the club has been in chaos,’ he added.
United’s previous era of Premier League dominance has been cruelly ended by noisy neighbours Manchester City while Liverpool also finally concluded their wait for a first league title as rivals continue to jump ahead of the Red Devils.

Having previously become one of the world’s most-feared teams under Ferguson’s legendary guidance, United have won just five trophies since he retired in 2013 and Evra insists it’s been hard to watch his former club struggle.
‘I’m a positive man, but it’s tough. Our rivals are getting better than us, play a better style of football. The future is not bright. It’s a tough moment,’ he added.
‘Liverpool waited 30 years to win the Premier League again, now it’s been 11 years [since United’s last title]. I don’t want to wait that long.
‘No matter what, I will be a United fan forever, but it’s quite tough to watch United play,’ said Evra.
