Khalid Mahmood, former Labour MP for Birmingham Perry Barr from 2001 until 2024, has told GB News that he backs a national public inquiry.
“We need to address the issues for the victims.
“The IICSA inquiry did find some issues but what we really need to do is account for the feelings of these victims who have been absolutely annihilated in this process.”
“They’ve had no respect or dignity given to them.”

He added: “We need to start a process by quickly setting up a terms of reference to look into the historic cases, but also to go after the criminals and the police and local authorities who have been involved in this.”
“They all need to be held to account for this.”
He continued: “The victims have been abused for all their lives and they need some closure on this.”
Mahmood, the first British Muslim Pakistani to be elected to parliament in England, told GB News: “This is an issue that needs to be addressed.”
“The Tories have jumped on a bandwagon but I’m not concerned about them, I’m concerned about the victims who need redress.”
Mahood said that his message to Keir Starmer is: “What we need to do is ensure that those people who have gone through huge abuse need to have their lives back.”
