A highly anticipated Christmas event in Greater Manchester, led by viral beauty company P.Louise, has been cancelled.
The Pinkmas event was set to run from 1 December to 4 January and include attractions such as a pink ice skating rink and a pantomime performance.
The first phase of tickets had sold out, and the event moved from the Trafford Centre to Barton Dock Road, TraffordCity.
P.Louise founder Paige Louise Williams said she was “devastated” at having to call the event off “despite being almost fully built… due to issues with the licensing process”.
“I cannot take the risk of opening the event without a definite resolution, as the last thing I would ever want is to disappoint so many of you,” Ms Williams wrote, in a statement.
“Please believe me when I say this decision has not been taken lightly.
“I have personally invested so much into this build, and the structure is already in place. However, at this point, the only responsible option is to refund everyone in full in the next five days and work towards giving everyone the most perfect solution.”
Thanking her customers for their “incredible” support and understanding, she said each of them would be contacted personally, adding: “I had hoped to speak with each of you before this news reached the press.
Ms Williams, from Droylsden, Greater Manchester, opened the P.Louise Makeup Academy in 2014 with a £20,000 loan from her nana.
She began by offering make-up classes in the salon before hosting online courses for overseas clients.
She went on to create the product now known as Rumour Base, later ranked number one eyeshadow base in the market by NikkieTutorials, marking a turning point for the business.
With the help of social media, her business has evolved into a household brand loved by millions around the world with a projected revenue of £138m this year.
