Warrington Wolves half-back Oli Leyland says competition for his position can only benefit the Super League side in 2025.

The 23-year-old joined from London Broncos on a two-year deal from 2025 off the back of an impressive campaign last term.

He joins the Wire with fellow half-backs George Williams and Leon Hayes also in the squad.

“You’ve got to get the best out of each other. If I’m not there and we’ve got Leon and George then how do they stay frosty? If I start playing and it’s me and George or me and Leon, then how do I stay frosty?” he told Radio Merseyside.

“Iron sharpens iron and if we’re going to achieve the goals we want to this year, we need three and, with Stefan [Ratchford], four players who are on top of their game pushing each other every week.”

Leyland turned out in 95 games in all competitions for London Broncos including 27 appearances in Super League last term.

Despite his relative experience off the back of 2024, Leyland has stayed grounded in his ambitions now that he has moved north to the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“My goal this year is to make my debut and become a better player than I was last year,” he added.

“I believe that if I can improve as a player and get the best out of me then in turn, it will help improve the team.”
