•  Footy fans have blasted Dragons’ milestone jersey
  •  Jack Bird wore a jersey with a spelling mistake on it
  •  Isn’t the first jersey blunder this NRL season

The St George Illawarra Dragons have copped it from fans on social media after some eagle-eyed supporters spotted a spelling mistake on the jersey of Jack Bird.

Bird was wearing a special 150th game milestone jersey for Sunday’s showdown with the Sharks, which celebrated his 67th game with the club.

However, while being interviewed after the game, it emerged that the star centre’s jersey suggested he played for the ‘Dargons’.

‘Jack Bird. 150th NRL Game. Sharks vs Dargons. Pointsbet Stadium. Sunday May 5th 2024,’ was printed on the jumper.

With back-to-back losses, it hasn’t been a great start to the season for Dragons supporters – and the jersey mistake seems to have made things worse.

‘This can’t be real can it? Serious question,’ posted the X account Red V Podcast, who also highlighted that the club had made a similar error recently on the milestone jersey of utility Fa’amanu Brown.

‘That’s unacceptable,’ replied another.

‘Absolute joke,’ posted a third.

Meanwhile, Shane Flanagan has branded his St George Illawarra side ‘awful’ after his return to Shark Park ended in a 20-10 defeat that kept Cronulla on top of the NRL ladder.

Coaching against Cronulla for the first time since being ousted from the club in 2018, Flanagan returned to PointsBet Stadium on Sunday desperately hoping his Dragons side could find some of the grit that made his premiership-winning Sharks outfit so feared and revered.

The Red V’s form has been inconsistent all season and a trip to face their nearest rivals came a week on from their humiliating 60-18 Anzac Day loss to the Sydney Roosters.

Although the Dragons kept themselves in the contest, Flanagan was left fuming at his side’s lack of discipline.

‘We were just awful, never completed our sets, never got to our kick and when we did, we didn’t nail them down in the corner,’ Flanagan said.

‘It was a frustrating game, we didn’t give ourselves a chance because of the errors we made.

‘We were in there for most of it but some of the errors and self-inflicted penalties…We just can’t do that.’
