HALF-TIME: Wolves 1-0 Brighton

Wolves are ahead at half-time against Brighton following Mario Lemina’s early effort.

Lemina’s strike was Wolves only shot on target in the first half.

Brighton have had 69 per cent possession and have had eight shots on the Wolves goal.

Sense that one is far from over.

IAN LADYMAN: Marcus Rashford has done okay, but Man United haven’t got enough top class players

Ian Ladyman, Football Editor at Mail Sport and host of the ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ Podcast, at the City Ground:

Lots of talk about Marcus Rashford’s attitude and body language recently. Alan Shearer joining the throng on TV tonight.

Personally, I think he’s done okay here.

United’s application has been decent tonight. Quite sharp with the ball.

Their biggest problem remains an enduring one. They just haven’t got enough top class players.

HALF-TIME: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Chances are both ends, but it is goalless at the break.

After a promising start to the match it has become rather scrappy.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Two attempts of differing quality from Nottingham Forest.

Neco Williams attempts to cut across the ball on the half volley – think Benjamin Pavard’s famous goal in the 2018 World Cup – only this one goes over the bar.

His effort is much better than Awoniyi’s moments later.

The Forest forward thrashes wastefully with his left foot when well placed. He had time.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

‘Get up, stop waving your arms around Marcus,’ Alan Shearer pleads with Rashford on the BBC after he goes to ground calling for a free kick.

‘You have to take responsibility for your actions on the pitch. Get up and get on with it.’

Rashford gets the chance to act on Shearer’s pleas as he picks out Amrabat’s run into the box.

The Moroccan’s cut back is easily cleared.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Referee Chris Kavanagh trots across to the touchline to have a word with Man United boss Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag was unhappy about something.

A lot riding on this match for the Dutchman.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Scott McTominay is such a threat for Man United.

For the second time tonight he directs a header goalwards, which Matt Turner is forced to push away, this time from a corner.

It was the same combination as earlier, with Dalot providing the delivery.

Wolves 1-0 Brighton

Elsewhere, alert goalkeeping from Jason Steele has prevented Brighton from going 2-0 down.

The goalkeeper is forced to make a sliding tackle after a shocker of a backpass.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

The BBC cameras pan to pick out Sir Alex Ferguson in the stands

Mark Robins famously helped to save his job as Man United manager with a winning goal against Nottingham Forest, the last time the sides met in the competition.

The rest the say is history.

As for the present, Ferguson is flanked by David Gill and a key man in the new regime, Sir Dave Brailsford.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Origi fires over the top for Nottingham Forest from the right of the penalty area.

Alan Shearer on the BBC noted Marcus Rashford’s frustration at not being picked out after making a good run at the other end.

Shearer highlights how Rashford then opted to come short to get involved in the play.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Moments after Bruno Fernandes goes down and does not get a free kick, Alejandro Garnancho does.

Forest fans don’t forget Fernandes appeals for a free kick as they sarcastically cheer when his delivery goes straight into the fans of Matt Turner.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

NATHAN SALT AT THE CITY GROUND:

Erik ten Hag has just been in an animated chat with Sofyan Amrabat and I’m not surprised after that awkward back-pass a few minutes ago. He needs to find some groove at left back – quick.

WATCH: Lemina strikes early for Wolves against Brighton

Here is that early goal for Wolves in the other 7.45pm kick off this evening.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have turned it around against Leeds and are leading 2-1.

You can follow that match here

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Nottingham Forest are racking up the corners. It’s four in the opening 22 minutes.

Murilo heads off target under pressure from Varane.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Ian Ladyman, Football Editor at Mail Sport and host of the ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ Podcast, at the City Ground:

No matter what happens here, there will be no two finer kits on display anywhere in football land this week. Both of them look fabulous.

In terms of the action, United are bright going forward and have had three good chances already.

With Kobbie Mainoo rested from the centre of the field, however, Casemiro has lost the bloke who does much of his running for him and as a result Forest are having some joy breaking from deep in that area.

At left-back, meanwhile, Sofyan Amrabat looks like a disaster waiting to happen for Erik ten Hag.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Andre Onana is called into action for the first time with the Man United goalkeeper getting Amrabat out of jail, after his poss pass gives away posssesion.

Awoniyi’s driven effort is pushed away by the Man United keeper at full stretch.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Forest’s turn to come forward in an end to end opening to this match.

Awoniyi is found in the box and sees his cross blocked behind by Victor Lindelof at the expense of a corner.

Gibbs-White’s delivery is headed clear by Varane.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Lively old start at the City Ground.

Scott McTominay is denied by Matt Turner, but the Man United midfielder directed his header straight at the Forest keeper.

He probably should have scored.

Good play in the build-up from Diogo Dalot and Antony, who has started well.

GOAL: Wolves 1-0 Brighton (Lemina)

Wolves have taken an early lead at home to Brighton.

Mario Lemina has bundled the ball into the net after Jason Steele spilled a shot.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

NATHAN SALT: Really like this Neco Williams-Alejandro Garnacho battle down United’s left.

Garnacho is such a tricky customer – as Fulham found out on Saturday – and so the Welshman has his work cut out.

About 50/50 in that fight so far though.

Close! Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

What a start this would have been for the much maligned winger.

A Man United corner finds Antony on the edge of the box and his curling effort his the bar and goes over.

Would have been a great way to silence his critics.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

The hosts are straight on the attack with from Man United winger Antony Elanga producing a couple of stepovers before seeing his cross blocked.

Bruno Fernandes heads away the danger from the corner.

Amrabat is indeed playing at left back for Man United this evening.

KICK OFF: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Man United

Referee Chris Kavangh gives the go ahead and Man United get us underway.

A brilliant atmosphere for this one!

The teams are out…

A raucous atmosphere at the City Ground as the teams emerge, as you would expect.

A wonderful setting under lights for an FA Cup tie.

Before kick-off here is a reminder of the two teams

Nottingham Forest: Turner, Williams, Felipe, Murillo, Toffolo, Yates, Danilo, Elanga, Gibbs-White, Origi, Awoniyi.

Man Utd: Onana, Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Amrabat, Casemiro, McTominay, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho, Rashford.

IAN LADYMAN: ‘Having an FA Cup draw with half the ties still to be played is just stupid’

Ian Ladyman, Football Editor at Mail Sport and host of the ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ Podcast, believes it is embarrasing for the FA Cup draw to take place with half the ties still to be played.

IAN LADYMAN: Wayne Rooney could cut it in the media

Wayne Rooney in the TV studio with Gary Lineker for this one. Rooney was on the Gary Neville ‘Stick to Football’ podcast this month and is desperate to get back in to management.

He could cut it in the media, though. Thinks deeply about the game and studies other coaches. More articulate than many give him credit for.

He also said he would ‘walk to the Etihad’ to be Pep Guardiola’s number two, mind….

Once a blue/red/sky blue…..

A big night for Antony this evening with the Brazilian recalled to Man United’s starting line-up.

Nathan Salt has taken a look at how the £86m winger’s situation after being brought off the bench in the 99th minute against Fulham.

Ten Hag has publicly defended Antony, who he signed from Ajax, as he gives him another chance to prove his worth tonight.

We know in autumn he didn’t have his best performances,’ Ten Hag said.

But he has to fight back, show some resilience, he has to be determined to prove it, that he is the player for United, that he is capable of it. We have seen glimpses of it.’

Ten Hag: ‘We can’t go into a game giving 90-95 per cent’

Man United boss Erik ten Hag has been speaking to the BBC ahead of kick-off.

Interesting and perhaps pointed quotes from Ten Hag that Man United ‘can’t go into a game giving 90-95%’.

Of course we are not happy when we are sixth in the league. We are not happy as Manchester United so we have to catch up.

From January on we were in a positive trend and we played very good games and progressing. We weren’t perfect still, but you saw the potential and we were winning games. Now it’s broken by defeat, so we have to change this.

We have to be aware that , you have to give everything possible on the pitch and show determination and intimidation in our approach to the opponent. We have to show willingness and belief to win games.

Last year we were unbeatable at Old Trafford and opponents came with that idea and feeling that you can’t get nothing here. That is how it should be. There will always in a process be setbacks but it’s how you can make it better. You have to start by getting that right on the training pitch.

NATHAN SALT: Huge opportunity for Amrabat

Nathan Salt has his say on Sofyan Amrabat’s inclusion in the Man United starting line-up:

Sofyan Amrabat hasn’t started for United since December 17 so it’s a huge opportunity for him tonight.

It was fairly damning to me at the weekend that when Casemiro was forced off injured Ten Hag didn’t turn to the Moroccan.

Looks as if he’s going to slot in at left back tonight and, well, that’s had mixed results so far this season. Fluff his lines and it could be curtains for him at United.

Wolves vs Brighton team news

As mentioned earlier, we will also be keeping you across all the updates from Wolves fifth round tie against Brighton this evening.

Here are the starting line-ups at Molineux.

Wolves: Sa, Doherty, Kilman, S. Bueno, Toti, Ait-Nouri, M. Lemina, Gomes, Doyle, Bellegarde, Hwang.

Brighton: Steele, Julio, Dunk, Gross, Moder, Adingra, van Hecke, Estupinan, Fati, Buonanotte, Peupion.

FA Cup quarter-final draw throws up possible Man United vs Liverpool tie

Here is the FA Cup quarter-final draw in full, including the possibility of a blockbuster Man United match against Liverpool.

Of course that could be completely thrown out of the window by tonight’s results…

Wolves/Brighton v Coventry City

Nottingham Forest/Manchester United v Liverpool/Southampton

Chelsea/Leeds v Leicester City

Manchester City v Newcastle United

IAN LADYMAN: Lack of Man United squad depth laid bare

Ian Ladyman, Football Editor at Mail Sport and host of the ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ Podcast, gives his views on tonight’s line-ups.

The FA Cup quarter-final draw is imminent…

A couple of minutes away from the FA Cup quarter-final draw, which I will endeavour to keep you across.

Former England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman is the man who will be picking out the balls.

Man United team news: Fernandes and Varane fit to start, Antony returns to the starting eleven

Interesting team news from Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane have both won their races to be fit for tonight.

The eye-catching team news is the recall of Antony and Amrabat to the starting eleven.

Both have fallen down the pecking order in recent weeks.

Ten Hag has given both men a chance to shine tonight.

Nottingham Forest team news

Here is how the hosts line-up for tonight’s match.

Thankfully no sign of Nuno Espirito Santo resting players for the Premier League relegation battle.

Nottingham Forest: Turner; Williams, Felipe, Murillo, Toffolo; Danilo, Yates; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Awoniyi; Origi.

Man United arrive at the City Ground… but who makes the starting line-up?

Mail Sport’s Nathan Salt on the scene at the City Ground as Man Unite’s squad arrive ahead of tonight’s match.

The team news should be fascinating as Ten Hag seeks to get a reaction to the loss to Fulham.

We know Harry Maguire has already been ruled out through injury, while Ten Hag confirmed Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane are doubts.

Could there be a recall for Antony and potential involvement for more of the club’s youngsters this evening.

Shouldn’t be long until we find out…

Erik ten Hag has gone on the offensive in the last couple of days after Man United’s unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt against Fulham.

The Dutchman batted away questions about his future in his pre-match press conference ahead of tonight’s match.

Ten Hag has insisted he does not need a public vote of confidence from Man United’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe had given a lukewarm response to questions about Ten Hag’s future after completing his £1.3billion investment last week

‘I’m under contract for three seasons, so I don’t care,’ said Ten Hag. I’m only focusing on the process, so I don’t care what’s going on around me.

I have many talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, also with Sir Dave Brailsford and others in that group, so I know where we are and I feel that they believe in me.

Curiously, at least to me, the FA Cup quarter-final draw will be held ahead of tonight’s matches.

The draw will take place at 7pm on ITV4, ahead of their coverage of Chelsea’s match against Leeds United.

The route to Wembley will become clearer for Nottingham Forest and Man United as a result.

Only it will be irrelevant for tonight’s losing team…

Just when you thought Manchester United were making progress, along came Fulham.

Last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to the Cottagers at Old Trafford has seen the pressure immediately heaped back onto Man United boss Erik ten Hag.

Mail Sport Man United correspondent Nathan Salt provides the perfect scene setter for tonight’s match, with tonight’s encounter seen as the start of a defining week in the club’s season.

‘It’s a must-win FA Cup fifth round trip to Nottingham Forest, where they were last beaten prior to the Fulham loss, and then a daunting prospect of taking this patched up side down to road to face City in a Manchester derby,’ he writes.

Welcome!

Good evening and welcome to another night of FA Cup fifth round action.

Holders Man City, Newcastle, Leicester and Coventry have all booked their places in the quarter-finals over the last two days, with four teams set to completing the line-up tonight.

Erik ten Hag has taken his Manchester United side to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in a vital match for the under-pressure boss.

Forest will be backed by a vocal home support, who will be glad to put their relegation concerns to one side for an evening.

We will also be bringing you updates from another all-Premier League affair as Brighton host Wolves.

Both matches are 7.45pm kick-offs.

It promises to be a cracking night of football.
