OMID Scobie has ‘sworn on his own life and that of his family’s’ that the royal naming row was not a publicity stunt to sell more books.

Mr Scobie denied being in ‘cahoots’ with Meghan Markle over the claims.

But refused to apologise for the racism row that has erupted as a result of names of two royals being published in the Dutch version of his book Endgame.

He said: “The book I wrote, the book I edited, the book I signed off on, did not have names in it.”

This comes despite Dutch translators saying they would have never put the names of royals in there. They would have been in the translation ‘black and white’.

Speaking on the BBC, Scobie was asked ‘hand on heart’ that the latest chaos was not a PR stunt.

He replied: “On my life, on my family’s life.”

He added: “No it’s serious because I feel hurt by some of the things I’ve seen that have suggested a conspiracy theory, that this is some kind of publicity stunt, and ‘I’m in cahoots with my pal [Meghan]’ and nonsense like that because it feeds into something that couldn’t be further from the truth’.

During the interview Scobie was given the opportunity to apologise to the Royal Family

But he said: “It’s not for me to apologise because I still want to know what’s happened.”

The Dutch edition of Endgame named the two royals Meghan Markle allegedly accused of having ‘concerns’ over ‘how dark’ Prince Archie’s skin would be – which Piers Morgan identified on British television last night.

The royal pair have also been named widely by media organisations around the world.
