Asda customers have spotted a brand new spread in branches, bringing Easter flavours to shelves this January.
Those who have seen it shared mixed reactions upon discovering the own-brand ‘Cracking Chocolate Spread’.
Many shoppers were alerted to the product by the blog Newfoodsuk, which posted: “New Cracking Chocolate Spread at Asda. Yes, it does taste like a [Cadbury’s] Creme Egg. Perfect on some pancakes, now available at Asda.”
It received more than 700 comments and 800 positive ‘reactions’ as Britons rushed to make their feelings known.

Many comments were positive, but others were not so sure. One shopper said: “Honestly I’d just eat that out of the jar.”
Another agreed adding they would enjoy it “straight out the jar”. A third said “ooh yes, that looks good” and fourth said, “omg I want it”.
While it is advertised as an Easter treat, one customer tagged their loved one and said they would pick it up for Pancake Day.
Other chocolate fans were less convinced. One customer said they love chocolate but asked, “who wants Creme Egg on toast?”.
A second added, “not for me”. One more said they “don’t know if I would like it” and another simply wrote, “oh no”.
Asda is not the only retailer rolling out new chocolate spreads as Marks & Spencer has added a high-protein chocolate spread.
Posting on social media, it said: “New in the M&S Foodhall – chocolate spread but make it high protein. We’ve cracked the ultimate high-protein chocolatey treat.
M&S launched a new Chocolate Hazelnut Spread this week

“Our new High Protein Chocolate Hazelnut Spread is not only packed with crunchy hazelnut pieces, making it mouth-wateringly moreish, it’s loaded with 5g of protein per serving as well.
“Spread onto seeded bread, bake into high protein muffins or devour on your toasted High Protein bagels with your favourite berries.
“Or you know, just dive straight in with a spoon… no one’s judging. Find it in your local M&S Foodhall or on @ocadouk now.”
Hungry Britons looking for a sweet treat commented on the post calling it “delicious” and “divine”.
