Nestle has permanently discontinued its popular Carnation Vegan Condensed Milk Alternative, leaving plant-based Britons searching for alternatives.

The oat and rice-based product, which launched in 2020, had become a staple for vegan sweet treats and was widely available in major supermarkets at £2.50.

But the dairy-free version of the classic Carnation Condensed Milk has now vanished from shelves, marking another significant product discontinuation from the confectionery giant.

Frustrated customers took to social media platform X to voice their concerns about the disappearing product.

“I’m desperately trying to find your Vegan Condensed Milk and it’s out of stock/discontinued in every supermarket I’ve spoken to, and I need it for my small business!!” one user wrote.

The festive season particularly heightened shoppers’ dismay, with another posting: “Help! What’s happened to your vegan condensed milk? Can’t find it anywhere. need to make fudge for Christmas!”

The outcry prompted one bewildered customer to question: “Why on earth would they do that.”

Nestle confirmed the discontinuation in a statement on X, stating: “We’re sorry to have to give you disappointing news, but unfortunately, Carnation Vegan Condensed Milk has been discontinued from our range.”

The company continues to produce its original dairy-based Carnation Condensed Milk.

For those seeking vegan alternatives, Organic Biona Sweetened Condensed Coconut Milk remains available at Ocado for £2.40.

This latest discontinuation follows a pattern of recent product removals by Nestle.

In October, the company ceased production of Smarties Buttons, which had been launched in 2020 as a “reimagined” treat featuring milk chocolate buttons with crunchy bits.
