Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert narrowly avoided serious injury on Monday night as a piece of the Target Center’s jumbotron fell from up above and almost hit him.
Gobert was walking towards his team’s bench at the end of the first quarter, with Minnesota leading Atlanta 28-20 at the time.
And disaster nearly struck as a black piece of equipment crashed down about a foot in front of him and bounced off of the court.
A visibly shocked Gobert quickly took a step back and put his hands on his head.
His teammate Naz Reid also looked stunned and looked up at the jumbotron.
The piece that fell appeared to be part of the horn that sounds in the arena.

Asked after the game if his life flashed before his eyes at the end of the first quarter, Gobert offered a simple answers to reporters.
‘Yes,’ he said with a smile.
The Timberwolves unveiled their new jumbotron in 2016, with each of the four main displays measuring at approximately 18 feet high and 33 feet wide.
The addition of the video boards was part of a $128.9 million Target Center renovation.
