GB News presenter Nana Akua has launched a fierce defence of Nigel Farage after a Labour activist branded him as having a “miserable decline” vision for Britain.

She highlighted current economic challenges under Labour, including farmers threatening strike action over inheritance tax rates.

The exchange came after Labour Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s recent attacks on the Reform UK leader at a Fabian Society conference.

Nana Akua said: “Was it not Keir Starmer, who stood there on a plinth of integrity, saying things will get worse before they get better?

“He went on about how miserable everything will be and how hard life would be. Is it not Rachel Reeves, his economic vision, that is currently slo mo crashing the economy.

“Let’s be honest here. We’ve got farmers threatening to strike because they’re not happy with the inheritance tax rise, and neither are most of the people in this country.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

“So I’m wondering how a politician who seems to have a vision of the UK and has patriotism towards the UK can be seen as a miserable decline.”

Labour activist Chris Worrall fumed: “You know, Labour’s got a plan for change. They’re getting on with that.

“At the end of the day Farage has got bigger problems too and is continuing just to sell his misery. Donald Trump has got a very good relationship with Starmer.”

He added: “Wes Streeting hit the nail on the head to point him out for having a declining vision for the country. You know, mission led Labour government is getting on to turning the country around after 14 years of conservative neglect.

“We’ve had more announcements recently about reducing NHS waiting lists, as well as building the houses that we need and streamlining national infrastructure projects.

“It’s clear for all to see that Farage feeds on pessimism like a parasite. And if Britain’s going to thrive, Nigel is going to be out of a job.

“I think at the end of the day, it is politics dressed up as patriotism, but all he’s ever done is fly the flag of failure and wrap himself in it.”

Speaking at the Fabian Society conference on Saturday, Wes Streeting warned that the “populist Right is coming for us” and branded Farage as promoting a “miserablist, declinist” vision for Britain.

The Health Secretary’s speech was briefly interrupted by climate protesters, who were escorted from the hall.

“The crux of Farage’s argument is this: what was possible in the 20th Century isn’t possible in the 21st,” Streeting told his audience.

He accused Farage of not believing in a universal health service “free at the point of use” and having a “poverty of ambition” for the UK.

Streeting highlighted encounters with voters who had faced long NHS waiting times and were now considering voting for Reform due to “the most appalling experiences.”

Farage swiftly responded to Streeting’s accusations, claiming Labour had the miserable vision and that Reform represented the “optimistic alternative.”
