Confidence can take a big knock when a person’s hair starts thinning, but regardless of the severity, there is often a solution at hand.

Making small adjustments to your hair care often has favourable effects on its length and thickness. Finding the regimen that works for you, however, becomes increasingly important with age.

Tammy, whose YouTube channel Tammy’s Timeless Beauty looks at different lifestyle hacks for a healthier look, recently shared the tips that have worked best for her.

Having cut her locks in long layers, she told viewers why rollers and hairspray are a game-changer for creating volume.

Once considered a relic of the past, rollers are making a stylish comeback in modern hairstyling because of their volumising effect.

To breathe new life into hair, Tammy recommends rolling the away from the face, as this encourages the roots to lift, she explained.

“I don’t use anything small because I don’t want a kinky curl,” Tammy added.

“I don’t play with my hair once it comes out of the rollers, the more you play with it, the more you pull the curl out.

“I take the rollers out and then I flip my hair over and I just lightly shake, and then I flip my hair back and I come in with my hair spray.”

She also stressed the importance of good scalp care for healthy and fast growth, claiming it warrants more attention than the ends.

Another tip to elevate the appearance of grey and white hair is to focus on shine.

“White and grey hair must have a shine to it if it has no shine, I think that is when ageing comes into play,” Tammy noted.

“I have seen so many women with beautiful white, grey hair but it has a dullness to it or a yellow cast to it.”

For a glass effect, Tammy combines a styling cream with Moroccan oil and applies a pea-sized amount to the length of her tresses.

This is sure to add shimmer to the locks, she noted, but it is equally important to avoid products that may compromise shine.

Stay away from blue shampoos because they can have a “very drying” effect on the hair, she said.

“Just really pay attention to the dryness because if your white and grey hair starts to look dry, that’s when ageing comes in,” Tammy added.

Not only can blue shampoos compromise moisture but they can also a build-up of pigment over time.
