More than half of 2025 Channel crossing migrants reach UK in past 10 days as Starmer faces border crisis

Sir Keir Starmer’s border security policy has been plunged into deeper crisis after almost 2,300 small boat migrants arrived in the UK over the past 10 days.

GB News can confirm that one small boat arrived in UK waters around 1am on Monday and those onboard were taken to the Border Force processing centre at Dover Harbour.

Another migrant boat was intercepted just before 5am today. A third small vessel made it to British waters around 8.30am.

GB News Kent producer said at least 150 migrants have now arrived in Dover over the course of the morning.

It takes the number who have crossed the Channel since March 1 to almost 2,300.

That figure is more than half the 4,300 total of migrant arrivals since the beginning of the year.

The total is also 20 per cent higher compared to the same period last year, and much higher than any year at this point since the small boat crisis began in 2016.

There are growing calls for Starmer to introduce a deterrent scheme, similar to Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda policy.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Keir Starmer scrapped the Rwanda scheme to establish the Border Security Command

GETTY

The Rwanda scheme was scrapped by Starmer on his first day in office.

The Prime Minister branded the policy a “gimmick” and instead announced the introduction of a new Border Security Command.

The new command force has been given millions of pounds in extra funding, mostly diverted from the Rwanda scheme.

However, eight months on, the number of migrants crossing the Channel continues to smash previous records and is already on course to overtake the more than 36,800 who crossed last year.

Among those who arrived in the past week is a young Palestinian man, with alleged extremist links.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism said it had uncovered evidence that Abu Wadei had posted anti-Israel and anti-Jewish hate messages on his social media accounts.

The Home Office has not confirmed whether the asylum seeker was detained by authorities on his arrival into Dover harbour.

But new video emerged on Sunday which appeared to show the Palestinian asylum seekers streaming live on social media from his hotel room in the UK.

The Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp has called for urgent action to remove Wadei from the UK.

A Home Office spokesman said: “While it is a long-standing rule that we never comment on individual cases or operational matters, the British public can be reassured that we take all steps necessary at all times to protect the nation’s security.”

They added: “We are committed to ending small boat crossings which undermine our border security, and restoring order to the asylum system to ensure that the rules are respected and enforced.”
