GB News presenter Michelle Dewberry has brilliantly shut down a social media troll’s attack, after the left-wing user branded Dewberry a “fascist”.

Following a promotional video for her primetime debate show, Michelle was faced with a bitter response from a user on X, formerly Twitter.

Teeing up her show where she discussed Dominic Cummings, Nadhim Zahawi and if asylum seeker athletes should be given priority rights in the UK, X user Neil hit out at the presenter for “remaining unchallenged”.

Neil wrote in response: “Dewberry appears on my timeline because of her links to my home city of Hull, which she regularly brings into disrepute. We have a long established anti-fascist history here and don’t tolerate her like in our city. Do you believe she should remain unchallenged?”

Michelle was quick to shut down the troll, reminding him that she did not appear on his feed “because of links to Hull”, but because he “actively follows her” on the social media platform.

Michelle hit back at Neil: “I don’t ‘randomly appear on your timeline because of my home’. You proactively follow me on here and you’ve bombarded me with rude/abusive/threatening messages for years.

“Ever since I had the audacity to stand against Labour in the 2017 election. I’ve got news for you: You don’t get to determine who is and who isn’t welcome or ‘allowed’ in Hull and your behaviour doesn’t intimidate me. In fact, it makes me pity you…

“As for the false slurs you throw my way- I won’t even justify them with a response, they are almost as pathetic as your behaviour. Grow up.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Other users on X rushed to Michelle’s defence, criticising Neil’s remarks. One said: “From memory, I think I’ve heard her speak quite fondly of Hull. Would you like some salt on those chips?”

Another user shut him down, stating: “Helpful hint: optional engagement with said account will increase their frequency within your algorithm. Stop enabling your own victimhood.”

A third X user was also in defence of Michelle, telling the troll: “Get a life mate, for an anti fascist you seem to do a pretty good impression of a fascist.”

Admitting he’s “not normally aligned” with the presenter, another social media user criticised Neil’s outburst.

He wrote: “I’m rarely aligned with Dewbs but I do dispute two things. 1. That she appears on your timeline because of the Hull connection. 2. That she regularly brings Hull into disrepute, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in her.

“She’s a Conservative, not a fascist. There are lots of very Conservative people in Hull. They exist everywhere, for very natural reasons, as do other people more aligned to other politics and ideas.

“I’d recommend you stick to constructive criticisms rather than empty ad hominems.”
