Michael McIntyre sparks mass BBC ‘switch off’ as viewers fume at Bradley Walsh appearance: ‘Too much now’

Several fans of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show were left less than impressed with the fact Bradley Walsh was one of the star guests during this weekend’s episode.

An unsuspecting Walsh took part in McIntyre’s famous Midnight Gameshow during the programme in which he was woken up in the middle of the night to answer a series of questions put to him by the host.

Walsh’s skit has since gone viral after he came face to face with skier Fanny Chmelar – a woman who was the answer to a question on ITV’s The Chase which left Walsh in stitches.

Walsh was left branding the segment the “most surreal moment of my life” and prompted plenty of laughs from the studio audience.

However, a number of viewers at home took issue with the fact it was yet another show on primetime Saturday night TV that the 63-year-old had taken part in.

On Saturday, ITV viewers could’ve caught Walsh on an episode of The Chase Celebrity Special at 5pm before switching to BBC One to see him front Gladiators alongside son Barney at 5:50pm.

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show followed Gladiators meaning that from 5pm, Walsh was involved in three prime-time shows back to back.

As a result, irked licence fee payers took to social media to share their frustrations.

“Sorry I switched over when Bradley Walsh was on Michael McIntyre Show, too much #michaelmcintyresbigshow,” one viewer said on X, formerly Twitter.

A second echoed: “Caught about two minutes of that Michael McIntyre show, the volume had to go down immediately and then the entire TV got switched off after that. It was so unbearable I didn’t even want to flick channels.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “Anyone else think #BradleyWalsh is on the tv far too much now. He was even on #michaelmcintyre! And why has his son got a prime time job that some wait years for it never get? I’m sure he’s a nice lad but it seems unfair?”

Another weighed in: “Is there a show Bradley Walsh says no appearing on? #bigshow #michaelmcintyrebigshow #michaelmcintyre.”

“I did not want to see Bradley Walsh barely dressed today and yet here we are,” a fifth commented.

While a sixth sarcastically shared: “Thank God he’s back on! I’ve been having Bradley Walsh withdrawal symptoms for the last 5 minutes. #michaelmcintyresbigshow.”

There were some who enjoyed seeing Walsh and McIntyre on-screen together, however, including one fan who argued: “I think Michael McIntyre surprising Bradley Walsh with Fanny Chemelar is up there some of the best TV I’ve ever seen.”

“Bradley walsh and Michael McIntyre are both national treasures and I won’t have anyone tell me otherwise,” a second defended. (sic)

Those who stay tuned into the BBC primetime entertainment show were treated to a performance from Beverly Knight and a comedy segment with Katherine Ryan.

By the end of the show, it was a singer with cerebral palsy, Alfie, who left audiences in tears with his on-stage performance.
