Michael Maguire officially made the move from Sydney to Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon.
But it appears he has been busy ringing in some big changes at the Broncos since being announced as the club’s new head coach.
After taking over from Kevin Walters earlier this month, he is set to spearhead a new era at the footy club but has a lot to do to undo Brisbane’s woes of last season, finishing 12th in the NRL ladder.
On Thursday it was revealed that he is taking some big steps in his bid to effect change at the club, with The Daily Telegraph reporting that the Broncos hierarchy are planning to remove Allan Langer from his role as an on-field coach.
The club will instead offer their former captain a role as a corporate ambassador.
They expect Langer, a Clive Churchill medallist who led the Broncos to four premierships, to work with sponsors.
The Broncos Hall of Famer was appointed as an assistant coach under Ivan Henjack in 2009 and has been a permanent fixture at the club since.
It is understood that Maguire is due to meet with the 58-year-old to talk through his potential new role.
‘Alf will be in the organisation,’ Maguire had said.
‘I haven’t really had a chance to see him properly yet, but I have spoken to Alf over the phone and he’s a great man.
‘I’ve been able to spend some time with him over the years.
‘Now that I’m moving up, I want to sit down with Alf and see how best it all fits in together.

‘He’s obviously one of the greats of the club and such a popular figure in the game,” he added, making it clear that he would endeavour to keep Langer around the club.
‘I think everyone enjoys Alf, but it’s just best how we put our program together… Alf can play so many different parts within the Broncos organisation.’
Langer is highly regarded as one of Australia’s greatest rugby league players, with Walters previously lumping praise on the former halfback claiming: ‘He is a great ally to have and is a real Broncos man, which makes it even more special.
‘We will be carrying Alf out in a box.’
Langer, though had reportedly been considering his future at the club after Walters’ exit left him ‘shattered’ according to the Courier Mail.
It comes as Maguire looks to bring multiple changes to the club in a bid to catapault the Broncos back to their former standing in the league
The coach had told the outlet that he would contemplate his future during a recent family holiday.
It would be a huge loss to the club if Langer was to leave, having been a fan favourite for many years. Ricky Stuart once descibed him as ‘the greatest Bronco’.
