Meghan Markle’s fresh claims appear to unravel as TV appearance contradicts Netflix narrative

The Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series has come under scrutiny as viewers question Meghan’s claims about her childhood.

In the second episode of “With Love, Meghan”, the duchess tells actress Mindy Kaling she was a “latchkey kid” who grew up eating TV dinners and fast food.

Meghan said: “I grew up with a lot of fast food and also a lot of TV tray dinners.”

However, viewers have uncovered a 2016 clip that appears to contradict this narrative, casting doubt on the Duchess’s portrayal of her upbringing.

Meghan Markle has suffered a significant blow as the Duchess of Sussex cannot sell clothes under her new “As Ever” brand, new reports claimGetty

In the resurfaced clip from her appearance as a judge on US children’s cooking show “Chopped Junior”, Meghan described eating fresh and simple ingredients during her childhood.

She told a young contestant: “This dish reminded me of the kind of food that I grew up eating in California, like that real… farm to table, sort of fresh, really simple ingredients.”

This statement contradicts her Netflix portrayal as a child raised on microwave meals.

The Duchess also seemed to contradict herself within her own series, discussing her childhood love of gardening and growing food.

She recalled: “I loved, as a kid, I planted this thing and would sit there patiently waiting.”

Meghan’s father Thomas Markle Sr strongly disputed her account of being raised on TV dinners.

He told the Mail on Sunday: “We occasionally ate TV dinners, which family doesn’t?”

However, he added: “I was working two jobs so money was never an issue. We would eat out at least three times a week and order in the rest of the time.”

Markle, 80, also contradicted the “latchkey kid” narrative, stating he would personally collect Meghan from school daily.

He claimed if he was too busy, he would send a car to fetch her, suggesting she was not left to fend for herself after school.

Thomas Markle, an Emmy-winning lighting director, sent Meghan to the private Little Red Schoolhouse, which educated Elizabeth Taylor.

When Meghan was nine, her father won £750,000 in a lottery, helping fund her £16,000-a-year education at Immaculate Heart Catholic School.
