Meghan Markle has received a boost as the BBC has snapped up the right to broadcast Suits in the UK.

The Duchess of Sussex starred in the legal drama between 2011 and 2017.

Meghan stepped down from the role of Rachel Zane in the series following her engagement to Prince Harry.

The BBC acquired the rights to air Suits from a US broadcaster NBCUniversal.

Meghan’s portrayal of paralegal Rachel in Suits is seen as her most successful acting achievement but the duchess left the series after seven seasons.

Suits will be shown across a BBC channel as well as becoming available to stream as a boxset on iPlayer later this year.

The date when Suits will become available on the BBC streaming platform has yet to be confirmed.

Meghan Markle said regarding her decision to step back from Suits in 2017: “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as change. It’s a new chapter, right?

“I’ve ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team.”

In July 2023, the series smashed a Netflix record, four years after its last episode.

The highly successful series spanned from 2011 to 2019 with nine seasons in total.

Suits set a viewing time record for an acquired series in the week of June 26-July 2.

In June 2023, Netflix added all nine series of the programme to its platform.

It had 3.14 billion minutes of watch time, according to Nielsen, smashing the previous record of 2.49 billion minutes for Manifest.

In June 2023, Netflix added all nine series of the programme to its platform.

It was the first time Suits had hit Netflix in the US, but a South Korean adaptation of the show streamed on Netflix from December 2019 through August 2021.
