Meghan Markle is “putting herself front and central” in her new Netflix cooking series, according to a brand expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have focused on a series of solo projects to appeal to their differing audience demographic.

This new direction sees Meghan focusing on business ventures, including her new cooking Netflix show and upcoming American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand, whilst Harry dedicates his efforts to charitable causes.

The former actress’s latest project, “With Love, Meghan”, has attracted large social media attention, with its trailer vastly outperforming Prince Harry’s solo projects before the series even launched.

The Duchess of Sussex’s new eight-part lifestyle programme, which is set to be released on January 15, has amassed an impressive 1.3 million YouTube views.

In comparison, the trailer for Polo has failed to hit 200k after being released last year.

Nick Ede, Brand and Culture expert, suggested that Meghan’s personal “star power” and new social media presence will make the show a success.

He said: “There have been some ideas that haven’t made it to screen like Pearl and Netflix have invested a lot in brand Meghan, this feels like it’s the perfect fit for her.

He told the Express: “I’m sure that this show with its great guests and wonderful production values will be a huge hit but if it doesn’t perform like the Polo show it will become cult viewing and build an audience over a longer period of time.

“Meghan has star power and she’s putting herself front and centre and the combination of TV, social media and PR should stop it from flopping.

“The Polo show didn’t get much airtime and so didn’t ignite as much interest.”

The show features Meghan cooking alongside celebrity friends, including actress Mindy Kaling and her former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.

Meghan Markle will be joined by eleven guests confirmed for the show

While Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, and beloved rescue dog, Guy, make cameos in the trailer, there are eleven other guests confirmed for the show.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has backed the Sussexes’ new approach.

He previously told GB News: “I think that they realised they had done a lot of events solo, they knew there’d be speculation about a separation.

“I don’t see that as the rationale for it. I think they’re trying something new. I think it’s been quite successful.”
