Meghan Markle has made her feelings clear as the Sussexes’ Press Secretary made a major move.

Ashley Hansen, the Global Press Secretary and Head of Communications for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, is launching her own public relations firm, Three Gate Strategies.

Hansen has been the Global Press Secretary and Head of Communications for Prince Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation for more than two years.

She will continue to represent and advise the duke and duchess, whilst providing oversight to their international communications team.

Hansen will continue to amplify the Sussexes’ causes, in addition to repping their new business ventures and creative projects, such as American Riviera Orchard and the couple’s Netflix programmes.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex fully support Hansen’s new venture.

Meghan issued the following statement on behalf of herself and Harry: “We are so proud of Ashley, especially as a female entrepreneur.

“We look forward to having her focused expertise on our business and creative projects and her continued oversight of our communications team.

“My husband and I are excited to be alongside Ashley as she builds something extraordinarily special with her firm.”

Hansen’s new move came about after she was approached by other clients seeking the high-quality counsel she had provided to the Sussexes.

Three Gate Strategies now becomes part of a portfolio of female-led enterprises and new business ventures that Meghan has supported since moving to the US in 2020.

The PR firm will specialise in communications and brand management for distinguished individuals and organisations.

Hansen built out the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s current communications team earlier this year, appointing two senior level communications executives, Kyle Boulia and Charlie Gipson, who are respectively based in Los Angeles and London.

The team also includes longtime executives, Miranda Barbot, who began her tenure as Manager of Communications and is now VP of Programming and Media Operations and Deesha Tank, Director of Communications, who joined the Office of The Duke and Duchess in 2022.

During her run with the Sussexes, Hansen has advised the couple through various historical moments and projects including their docuseries Harry & Meghan, the duke’s autobiography Spare, the duchess’s podcast Archetypes, Queen Elizabeth II’s death and King Charles’s Coronation.
