Meghan Markle ‘looking to her friends’ following professional separation from Prince Harry

Meghan Markle has turned to her friends to boost her brand as she continues with the separation of her professional life from the Duke of Sussex.

Harry makes only rare appearances in the show, which features an intimate look at Meghan’s life through her interactions with close friends.

PR expert Edward Coram James, CEO at Go Up, suggests this limited involvement could be a strategic move for the couple’s individual brands.

The show, which has been temporarily postponed until March 4 due to Los Angeles wildfires, offers viewers glimpses of Meghan’s private life alongside a carefully selected group of confidants.

“Harry not being very involved in Meghan’s show is for the best right now,” explains Coram James. “Their joint brand has taken hit after hit in recent years.”

The PR expert suggests this separation could benefit both parties individually.

“It’s a solid chance for Meghan to show she can thrive on her own,” he notes.

For Prince Harry, Coram James believes independence is key: “His best move is to carve out more independence from Meghan in both his public and professional life.”

The expert emphasises Harry should focus on his core interests: “By focusing on the work he’s passionate about – veterans, conservation, and mental health – he could leave all the Megxit tabloid drama behind.”

According to Coram James, Meghan’s selection of friends for the show represents a carefully planned strategy.

“Meghan knows her brand has taken some hits, so this is about softening her image and giving people a reason to like her again,” he explains.

The PR expert compares it to Taylor Swift’s approach: “Think Taylor Swift’s 1989 era when she rolled out her ‘squad.’ It’s very curated, but it’s also smart.”

Each guest serves a specific purpose according to the brand expert: “Daniel Martin ties her to her royal wedding. Abigail Spencer is the reminder of her Hollywood roots. Mindy Kaling? That’s a signal to her audience that she’s aligned with strong, successful women in entertainment.”

Daniel Martin, who created Meghan’s natural wedding makeup in 2018, maintains a close relationship with the Duchess, telling Us Weekly in 2024 that they “keep in touch all the time.”

Abigail Spencer, who met Meghan at a 2007 audition before co-starring in Suits, describes the Duchess as “one of my dearest friends.”

Mindy Kaling, who filmed her segment two months after giving birth, shared warm insights about Meghan with Deadline: “She’s just such a thoughtful, creative person with stuff at home and she has a garden.”

Kaling also revealed Prince Harry’s presence during filming: “Harry was there, but he didn’t cook for me. But I hear he’s actually a pretty good cook.”
