Meghan Markle was involved in an awkward moment during a bookshop talk when she unexpectedly attempted to adjust her friend’s microphone.
The Duchess of Sussex was participating in a discussion at Godmothers Bookstore in Summerland, California alongside Courtney Adamo, co-founder of parenting blog Babyccino Kid.
As Ms Adamo began addressing the audience about feeling “honoured” to attend, Meghan suddenly grasped her friend’s arm and repositioned the microphone towards her mouth.
“I could hold it for you,” Meghan suggested whilst laughing.
The intervention left the blogger visibly flustered, prompting her to admit: “This makes me so nervous.”
Despite the slightly awkward beginning, the pair quickly laughed it off and moved onto their discussion.
During the conversation, Meghan shared insights into her family’s daily routines with Prince Harry and their children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet.
The Duchess explained their use of a “rose and thorn” exercise, particularly helpful when children typically provide “yes and no answers.”

“Our daughter, she’s four and she’s a very strong personality and she’s incredible,” Meghan revealed.
“And now she’s in this moment where I say, ‘What’s your rose and your thorn?’ And she goes, ‘My day was just a blast.'”
The couple also employs a “healing blanket” gifted by bookstore co-founder Victoria Jackson, which family members use for comfort when feeling unwell.
The former actress reminisced about her longstanding connection with Adamo, stating: “We’ve been friends since college, just so you know.”

The pair first met aged 17 at Northwestern University, where they belonged to the same sorority despite contrasting backgrounds.
“She grew up on a tulip farm. I did not grow up on a tulip farm,” Meghan noted, referencing her own upbringing in a modest Los Angeles duplex.
Their bond strengthened during a pivotal moment in September 2001, when the terrorist attacks forced them to abandon flight plans to Chicago.
Instead, the duo embarked on a three-day road trip, driving ten hours daily from Los Angeles to Illinois during what Meghan described as “one of the most fragile, tender times in this country.”

The gathering centred on promoting Adamo’s new publication, “The Family Home: Inspiring Ideas For A Home Filled With Joy,” which focuses on family-oriented interior design.
Godmothers Bookstore maintains strong connections with the Sussexes, who attended its September 2024 launch alongside Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi.
The venue features a members-only lounge charging $200 monthly for access to its second floor.
Following the discussion, Meghan hosted a reception on the bookstore’s terrace, where she poured glasses of Sauvignon Blanc from her wine label, As Ever, for selected guests.
