Meghan Markle has not been dropped by her Hollywood agency despite disastrous year

Meghan Markle appears to still be a client of top Hollywood agency WME, despite social media speculation she had been axed.

The Duchess of Sussex’s popularity took a hit in 2023, following her and Prince Harry’s Netflix series documenting Megxit, and their “near catastrophic car chase” through the streets of a gridlocked New York in May.

New York Police Department officials poured doubt on that claim from Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson.

All of this, plus satirical portrayals of The Duke and Duchess in US cartoon comedy series South Park and Family Guy, led to speculation WME was planning to drop the Duchess because her PR strategy to improve popularity appeared to be failing.

However, GB News can reveal the bookings page to hire Meghan Markle as a “Speaker” is still active on The Harry Walker Agency website, which is a division of WME.

Described as an “exclusive” client by the agency, Meghan is described as a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity and a global role model.”

“Her lifelong advocacy for women and girls remains a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian and business ventures.”

“She is noted as one of the most powerful and influential women in the world, topping lists such as TIME Magazine’s Most Influential People, The Financial Times’ 25 Most Influential Women, Variety Power of Women, and British Vogue 25.”

A former Spotify executive described Harry and Meghan as “grifters”.

Despite the attractive pitch by The Harry Walker Agency, both Meghan and Prince Harry were branded two of Hollywood’s “biggest losers” in 2023 by The Hollywood Reporter.

The agency does mention The Duchess’ award-winning Spotify podcast ‘Archetypes’, which debuted at Number 1 in a number of countries, but does not include the premature ‘parting of ways’ after just one season.

A former Spotify executive described Harry and Meghan as “grifters”.

Variety reported last year that WME planned to focus on “building Meghan’s social enterprise” and it is understood The Duchess has no plans to return to acting.

Listing Meghan as a “Speaker” is only one part of the reported deal with the “powerhouse” agency.

Variety reported WME would also “assume representation” of Archewell Productions, her and Prince Harry’s media production company.

Media creation, brand partnerships, and overall business building plans were also reportedly being explored.

These reported plans have not been officially confirmed, leaving Meghan’s only confirmed link to WME as a listed “Speaker” for a division agency – in the same category as tennis star Serena Williams and former Prime Minister and GB News presenter Boris Johnson.

A spokesperson for The Duchess of Sussex has been contacted for comment.
