Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left fans guessing after skipping a highly-anticipated event.
Oprah Winfrey hosted a celebrity-filled campaign event for Kamala Harris in Detroit, Michigan, yesterday evening, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were largely tipped to attend to show their support.
However, Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, were no-shows at the event.
It comes just a few days after the Sussexes took to their website to encourage US citizens to vote – but stopped short of endorsing either candidate.
GB News understands that there are no plans for Prince Harry and Meghan to publicly address support for any candidate at this time.
In their statement, they said: “In honor of National Voter Registration Day, The Archewell Foundation team came together for a meaningful volunteer activity to support and empower our communities.
“Using Vote Forward’s impactful letter-writing tool, our team wrote personalised letters encouraging unregistered voters to take a crucial step: registering to vote.
“Voting is not just a right; it’s a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities.

“At The Archewell Foundation, we recognise that civic engagement, no matter one’s political party, is at the heart of a more just and equitable world.
“By participating in initiatives like this, we aim to amplify the message that every voice matters.”
Groups that attended Winfrey’s celebrity-filled event included Cat Ladies For Kamala and Win With Black Women, as well as White Dudes For Harris and Queers For Kamala.
Major celebrities joined the event to endorse Harris, including Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock and Bryan Cranston.

In September 2020, when President Trump was going toe-to-toe with Joe Biden, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared on camera with a personal appeal to American voters to register in order to “reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity”.
Trump reacted by saying “I’m not a fan” of the Duchess of Sussex, before wishing Prince Harry “a lot of luck”.
In spring this year, Trump warned that “appropriate action” should be taken if it turned out the duke had lied on his US visa application over taking cocaine, magic mushrooms and marijuana in his youth.
The video garnered criticism in the UK because royals are not supposed to dabble in politics, although the duke and duchess insisted they were not endorsing Joe Biden and simply railing against “hate” and “misinformation”.
