Snubbing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry over the Christmas period will not be a good look for King Charles, according to a former royal butler.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spent the last three Christmas periods away from the UK.
However, in November Prince Harry rang King Charles on his 75 birthday in a move that appeared to be an olive branch to the Royal Family.
Meghan Markle also spoke to the King over the phone on his birthday.

The conversation between the Sussexes and King Charles may have opened the door to the couple spending Christmas with the Royal Family.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold said it would be a “big statement” if Meghan and Harry spent Christmas away from the Royal Family.
Harrold told Slingo: “The King will do what he can to carry on that tradition as it has been what he’s used to while growing up.
“I don’t think he would want to let that tradition stop.

“Whether Harry and Meghan will be involved, we don’t know. I would like to think they would be there, especially at Christmas.
“If they aren’t invited, it doesn’t look good on Charles. But if they decide not to go, that’s on them.
“But it would be a bad thing either way. It’s a big statement to make.”
Last week, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were savagely included in a display of “holiday hypocrites” by a famous store in Los Angeles.

Kitson Los Angeles has used its window display to call out the rich and famous for the last four years.
This year the store has taken a swipe at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over their frequent use of private jets.

Underneath the photo of the roles are screenshots of headlines from the New York Post and the Daily Mail criticising the couple’s frequent use of private jets.
