Max George has updated fans from his hospital bed shortly after revealing he’d been given a diagnosis following a “scary” health emergency.

The Wanted star George, 36, confirmed over the weekend he was suffering a from a 2:1 atrioventricular block, with the news coming days after the former band member was rushed to hospital.

On Monday, the singer provided a fresh update with some slightly more positive news, although the message was a mixed one.

He’d previously expressed his understandable disappointment at the prospect of spending Christmas Day in hospital, but has now shared he may be out before the big day.

Along with a series of photos taken from his hospital bed, in which he appeared in good spirits, George penned on Instagram: “Had a little day trip today. Full cat scan on my heart. Not something I’d choose to do again!

“As I mentioned yesterday, I have a 2:1 block in my heart. Unfortunately my heart rate hasn’t picked up at all in almost a week.

“Because of this, we don’t have too much time to wait so it looks like I’m going to be in surgery way quicker than the doctors first thought. I may even be home for Christmas!”

Despite the fact he could be back home to celebrate with family and friends, the former Strictly Come Dancing star seemed apprehensive.

“Still a pretty scary time right now and the last few nights have been really rough, but I wanted to say that I’m absolutely humbled by all your messages of support,” he continued.

Sharing his appreciation for fans and friends, he signed off: “Both people I know and those I don’t.

George shared on social media that he’d been rushed to hospital on Wednesday after falling ill with a mystery condition.

He explained the issue was with his heart, and on Sunday confirmed that doctors had discovered the block and that he’d need a pacemaker fitted.

The NHS describes an atrioventricular block as a condition caused by a problem with the electrical pulses that control how the heart beats.

George first shared the worrying news about his heath scare via social media on Thursday.

The candid post read: “Hey everyone. Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken to hospital.

Unfortunately, after some tests, they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.

“I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet.

“It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks/months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned!

“But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100 per cent in the best place.

“Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a setback, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was.

“Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks… “I’ve probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do! Let’s do this! Much love, Max.” (sic)
