Mikel Arteta’s side came out victorious, with Bukayo Saka opening the scoring from the spot.

Leandro Trossard added a second before Bournemouth saw a controversial goal ruled out.

Declan Rice completed the scoring late on, with Arsenal returning to the top of the Premier League, having played two more games than Man City – who later beat Wolves to go one point behind the Gunners.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, former Arsenal defender Martin Keown highlighted one key player from the Gunners’ win.

‘It was a little bit nervy that first half,’ he said before naming the player. ‘Declan Rice, the superlatives for him. He just keeps getting better.

‘If ever a position or a club was ready-made for him, it is the Arsenal situation he finds himself in.’

Keown continued to label Rice as the ‘complete player’ for Arsenal, heaping praise on the England midfielder as he discussed his rise to the top.

Keown continued: ‘He is the complete player now for Arsenal.

‘This was called the promised land and it has taken nearly 20 years to get the atmosphere we have here, the unity between the fans and the players and I think Declan embodies that.’

The former Arsenal star finalised by admitting that he enjoyed Rice’s late celebration as the Gunners came away with all three points.

‘I love the celebration. He is having himself for fun. Go and enjoy it.’

With Man City beating Wolves after Arsenal’s result, the Gunners are one point ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, City have the title in their hands as a win will see them leapfrog Arsenal, with one game in hand.
