Mark Zuckerberg has purchased a huge waterfront mansion in Miami for upwards of $150 million, becoming the latest tech tycoon to ditch California amid the proposed billionaire tax.

The Meta CEO, 41, and wife Priscilla Chan, 40, have snapped up a sprawling new home in the ultra-exclusive gated community Indian Creek Island, known as Billionaire Bunker.

The enormous three-story Spanish colonial style villa is set upon two acres of land and features wraparound terraces, a private dock and a waterfront swimming pool.

While it isn’t clear how much Zuckerberg shelled out for the mansion, reports claim it could have fetched between $150 million to $200 million.

Indian Creek is a man-made barrier island in Biscayne Bay and visitors can only access it via a heavily guarded gate bridge.

Zuckerberg, who is said to be planning to move with his family in April, will have a slew of high-net-worth neighbors including Julio Iglesias, Jeff Bezos, Tom Brady, and Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

Bezos, 62, and wife Lauren Sanchez, 56, became Billionaire Bunker residents after the Amazon founder bought two neighboring properties on the island in 2023.

He purchased a third mansion there in 2024 for $90 million.

Trump, 44, and Kushner, 45, purchased their $24 million fixer-upper on Indian Creek Island in April 2021, shortly after they moved from Washington, D.C., to Miami with their three children.

Billionaire Alex Meruelo and his wife, Liset Meruelo, sold them the 1.3-acre estate, which was also previously owned by record producer Scott Storch from 2004 to 2008.

Aerial images of the resort-style property show its expansive sun deck, perfect for enjoying the balmy Florida heat year-round.

The massive backyard has a large pool and a lavish spa-cabana featuring an outdoor shower, a sauna, a cold plunge, and a central ‘breezeway.’

Just 41 waterfront homes are situated on Indian Creek, according to the village’s website.

Each mansion is built around the perimeter of the island to ensure that all residents have a waterfront view of Biscayne Bay.

In the middle sits the ‘ultra-exclusive private membership’ Indian Creek Country Club and an 18-hole golf course, perfect for a billionaire looking to unwind.

The island also has its own private 13-person police force for its roughly 85 residents and a 24-hour marine patrol to keep an eye on the water surrounding the village

Zuckerberg joins several high-profile individuals who are moving out of California because of the proposed billionaire tax, including Google co-founder Larry Page.

The 2026 Billionaire Tax Act would see residents with a net worth of more than $1 billion pay a one-time tax worth five percent of their assets.

The bill has been championed by Democratic Representative Ro Khanna who said in a statement to the Daily Mail: ‘We must balance making sure we keep the Silicon Valley miracle and dynamism with ensuring that the working-class benefit from the prosperity with healthcare, education, and childcare.

‘Jensen Huang understands this, and I am working with tech and labor leaders on the best way forward.’

If the bill passes a vote due in November, it will retroactively affect billionaires living in the state beginning January 1, 2026, and would include stocks, art and intellectual property in the calculation.

The movement is an attempt to recoup funds for essential services, such as health care and education, funded by the state’s large population of billionaires.

California is home to the most billionaires out of any state, with over 80 people featured on the Forbes 400 list in 2025 included in an estimated total of 255 billionaires living there.

Florida does not impose a state income tax.

Zuckerberg, who already owns homes in Lake Tahoe, Palo Alto, and Kauai, has an estimated net worth of $232 billion.

He and wife Chan share three daughters, Maxima, August, and Aurelia.
