Amorim to FINALLY give in?

Manchester United (28) have conceded more goals this season than any other side in the top half of the Premier League… and they play a back five!

Is the whole point of deploying five defenders not that you keep more clean sheets? I thought it was, but maybe I’m just old fashioned.

Ruben Amorim had been adamant that he wouldn’t switch from his favoured 3-4-3 formation, even claiming a couple of months ago that the Pope himself couldn’t make him compromise.

But the Portuguese’s tone has changed in the last few weeks. ‘If we have to change to a back four, we change to a back four,’ were his words last Friday.

Well, he didn’t change in the loss at Villa Park, but I think we might – at long last – see a back four at Old Trafford tonight.

Now don’t take my word for that, I know as much as you do, but it just makes sense, doesn’t it?

Leny Yoro looked all at sea against Aston Villa and Ayden Heaven is, though impressive, still only 19.

A backline of Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu would give me more confidence if I was a United fan… and maybe we’ll see that tonight.

Either way, we’re going to find out soon with team news expected shortly before 7pm.
