A police officer who was filmed dragging a man who was sleeping rough across a pavement and then standing on him will face no further action.

The incident, in which the homeless 31-year-old man claimed to have been injured, was investigated by Greater Manchester Police.

The force said the officer’s actions were “wrong” but that there would not be any disciplinary action after having been reprimanded and given training.

Homeless charities said the incident, which happened outside Manchester Town Hall last September but came to light in March this year, was “appalling and degrading”.
