Manchester Libraries are launching an official podcast. Full Volume: The Manchester Libraries Podcast promises to take listeners behind the shelves of our city’s much-loved libraries.

A snappy 40-minute magazine show, listeners can expect a treasure trove of insider tips to exclusive interviews, the latest news to book reviews, and so much more every month.

Presented by the Central Library’s Alan Lynch, the podcast has been something of a passion project for some time. Recording material for the podcast over the past year at the Central Library’s podcasting suite, Manchester Libraries have now launched the inaugural episode of ‘Full Volume: The Manchester Libraries Podcast’ – streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and all major services now.

Promising a bumper first edition, the January show features an exclusive interview with Neil MacInnes OBE, Manchester City Council’s Head of Libraries, Galleries, Culture and Youth, Play and Participation Services, who outlines his vision for the sector in 2025.

Plus, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, who chats about her brand new adult novel ‘Think Again’; whilst library reviewer of the month Danny Middleton offers his verdict on the book.

Elsewhere, there’s insider scoops from longstanding library staff members, insights into the animated audio activities of the Ear Soup Society, and a look forward to all the best events happening at Manchester Libraries over the coming weeks.

Councillor John Hacking, Executive Member for Employment, Skills and Leisure said:

“I am absolutely overjoyed at the launch of the new podcast. Thanks to everyone involved in getting our first edition out into the world, I look forward to being in an edition later this year. The Council values its libraries massively and having our own podcast is another step forward and other way to share our services with the world.”
