Police at Manchester Airport have been filmed appearing to punch and kick a man while he was pinned to the floor.

The video – which was filmed at around 1pm yesterday – has only just come to light, just days after two policemen were cleared of any wrongdoing during a previous brawl which took place at the same airport over the summer.

On July 23, two police officers were allegedly beaten to the ground in the horrific incident, which caused Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, to take a blow to the head, while he and his brother, 25, were held back.

The two siblings have been charged following the horrific incident, while the policemen have not received charges.

The footage filmed yesterday has appeared to document a policeman hitting a man four times, kicking him twice in the abdomen.

It is understood that the officers were summoned to reports of a “drunk and disorderly” man at an airport bus station after he was not permitted to board public transport.

An officer subsequently attended the scene and is believed to have tried to arrest the individual before he called for extra support from other officers.

As a result, the two parties clashed, while the video showed one officer holding down the man’s head, while another pinned down his feet and another person kneeling on him.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We are currently reviewing a video published online showing the arrest of a man at Manchester Airport’s bus terminal yesterday afternoon.

“We understand the concerns around the use of force shown on the clip and our professional standards unit is assessing all available footage including the officers’ body worn cameras and CCTV.”

The video footage was taken by a passenger who was visiting the UK on holiday.

At a separate incident at Manchester Airport that took place in July, two men were charged over a clash with the police at the same airport, after a video went viral of an officer standing on one of the suspect’s heads.

The two brothers Mohammed Amaaz, 20, and Muhammed Amaad, 25, have both been charged with assaulting police officers, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

The CPS added that no further charges were being brought against any police officers which were involved.

Two policemen have remained under investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) watchdog after Greater Manchester Police led its own inquiry into the incident.

After the event, one of the officers had been suspended.

However, GMP Chief Constable Stephen Watson said he had decided to lift that suspension, “welcoming” the CPS’ choice to “take no further criminal action against serving officers”.

Watson added: “The IOPC’s misconduct investigation continues and we will continue to cooperate fully in this regard.

“I know that these matters have understandably generated a great deal of debate, scrutiny and speculation.”
