Real Betis are closing in on an agreement with Manchester United over a subsidised loan for Antony, Mail Sport can reveal.

The Brazilian has not started a league game for United this season but has found himself being used off the bench by Ruben Amorim.

There were progressive talks between United and Betis over the move on Saturday, surrounding its financial structure.

The deal is expected to go through, as United are willing to cover part of Antony’s hefty wages, coming in at a whopping £200,000 per week.

The loan will last until June 2025 without a buy option included.

Earlier this month, Olympiacos expressed interest in a loan move for the beleaguered winger, but he did not want to play for the Greek side, Mail Sport understands.

Erik ten Hag made Antony, his former charge at Ajax, one of his first signings in 2022 in a mega £86million move, but things have not gone to plan.

Across seven Premier League appearances this season, he has logged just 129 minutes and has netted once in all competitions – a penalty in an EFL Cup game against Barnsley.

He has not scored in the league since April 2024 and has put up less than impressive numbers at United.

In 95 games, he has managed just 12 goals, meaning United have, so far, paid just over £7m for each goal Antony has scored since his arrival.

He has accrued over £25m in wages since August 2022, meaning he has, on average, earned over £2m each time he has bagged for the Red Devils.

Antony is not the only star who could leave Old Trafford this month. Borussia Dortmund are pushing to convince Marcus Rashford to join them on loan.

The England international’s brothers have also held further talks with AC Milan and Barcelona.

Last season, Dortmund secured a short-term loan for Jadon Sancho after he, similarly, fell out of favour with Red Devils chiefs.

Erik ten Hag signed Antony for £86million in 2022, making him United’s second-most expensive signing in club history, behind Paul Pogba, who was signed for £89m in 2016

United ideally want to sell Rashford for £40million and that figure plus his wages of over £325,000-a-week are the major stumbling block.

They will consider loans with obligation to buy offers and a number of clubs have expressed interest.

Rashford has turned down approaches from Saudi Arabia and wants to remain in Europe to further his England career.
