A Manchester United flop has scored his first goal in more than two years.

The player was on target in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

He endured a hugely frustrating time at Old Trafford prior to leaving United this summer.

During his time at United, the player was unable to make much of an impact.

However, he is now attempting to get his career back on track.

Donny van de Beek was on the scoresheet with a composed finish from close range as Girona lost 3-2 at home to Feyenoord in the Champions League.

David Lopez put Girona in front before an own goal from Yangel Herrera saw Feyenoord equalise.

The Dutch side then took the lead through Antoni Milambo prior to van de Beek’s equaliser.

Feyenoord then went 3-2 up courtesy of another own goal, this time from Ladislav Krejci.

Van de Beek joined United from Ajax in 2020 but found regular playing time difficult to come by.

He made just six Premier League starts during his time at United and also endured frustration with injuries.

After a loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt in the second half of last season, van de Beek left United permanently this summer.

Van de Beek’s last goal came in May 2022 when he was on loan at Everton as he scored in a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal.
