A man was reportedly slashed after a brawl broke out between two groups of men in Liverpool city centre.

Police were called to Black Rabbit on Fleet Street in the early hours of Saturday following reports of a fight between two groups of men. When officers arrived they found a woman with a serious injury to her hand and arm. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

The men involved in the fight had left the scene, police said. People staying in the area reported a man was slashed during the incident. However, this has not been confirmed by police.

Blood could be seen splattered across the pavement outside Black Rabbit. Following a search of the area, four men who matched the descriptions of those involved were arrested.

Those arrested include: a 19-year-old man and 27-year-old man, both of no fixed abode, another 19-year-old man from Walton and a 20-year-old man from Ellesmere Port. They have all been taken to a police station where they will be questioned by detectives.

Fleet Street remains cordoned off by police while crime scene investigators gather forensic evidence at the scene. Merseyside Police said it is believed a man may also have been injured during the incident, but he had left the scene before officers arrived.

They would like to speak to him to check he is OK and to see if he has information which could help them with their investigation. Officers are examining CCTV footage in the area to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

If you have any information which could help officers with their inquiries please contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, with reference 0116 of 18 May.
